Music Programs

The Kindermusik for the Young Child program develops the whole child through singing, moving, listening, and creating.  This class provides the child with an understanding of basic musical concepts of steady beat, note and rhythm recognition, and it serves as a good basis for private instrumental instruction.  The group format of up to 8 children provides the child the opportunity to play instruments and sing in ensemble.  This class is a four-level (2-year) program.  We explore different families of instruments through the use of the glockenspiel (pre-keyboard) in the first year, and the dulcimer (strings) and recorder (woodwinds) in the second year.  The home materials for Young Child include a canvas carrying bag, folders of materials with home activities, CDs and songbooks, and the instruments mentioned above.  Some home work and practice between classes is expected.

No. of Sessions: 15 per semester

Cost:  $285 (includes home materials)
